X Games - More than 125 athletes from all over the globe will compete in skiing and snowboarding for the second year of Winter X Games Europe Tignes from : March 16th to 18th 2011.
What could be more perfect? Picture it now...crisp clean air, clear blue early spring mornings, snow so fresh it squeaks when your boots press into it...and the world's top free-stylers performing for you...FOR FREE! The Winter X Games are coming to Europe for the first time ever, and will sit themselves right in the middle of Tignes. Between March 16th and 18th you'll be able to see the best sportsmen and women showing off their skills on the specially made superpipe and slopes. |
Spectators will the greeted in a huge welcome area in Tignes Val Claret overlooked by the famous X Games Towers, and there'll be plenty of facilities such as toilets and food vans to keep everyone happy. As for where you can and can't go; for those 3 days (and a bit either side) getting around the slopes in Val Claret may be a little tricky. The Tignes half pipe will close in mid February to be built up and turned in to the Superpipe, measuring 220m long and up to 6m high. The Slopestyle jumps will sit on the “Double M” piste that runs alongside the Lanches chairlift. (link to piste map?) Other than that, there's still a share of 300km of piste including 6 slalom courses, 1 mogul field and 2 snowparks to keep visitors busy. |
